BROOKE-ALVINSTON – A 21-year-old has died after a single-vehicle crash here early Friday, provincial police say.

Emergency crews were called to a “serious” one-vehicle collision at Courtright Line and Nauvoo Road about 7:20 a. m., Lambton OPP said.

“As a result of the collision, the lone occupant, a 21-year-old individual from Newbury, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said in a midday update Friday.

Lambton OPP officers and the West Region traffic incident team was still investigating, they added. Courtright Line was closed between Old Walnut and River roads and Nauvoo Road was shuttered between Millpond Avenue and Oil Springs Line amid the investigation, police said.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about Friday’s crash is asked to call Lambton OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be sent in through Crime Stoppers.

It’s the second fatal single-vehicle collision in Lambton County this week. A Walpole Island resident, 84, died after a vehicle left River Road and entered the St. Clair River off the First Nation about 3:30 p. m. Tuesday, OPP said.

There have been several fatal collisions in Brooke-Alvinston in recent years, including back-to-back crashes in early 2024 on Aberfeldy Line near Cairo Road and at Rokeby Line and Inwood Road. In 2022, a truck driver died but saved others’ lives after a crash on Inwood Road and Courtright Line.
