More than $145,000 is being allocated to support various community projects in Huron County from several provincial government sources.

Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson shared the news on Monday. The first recipient of this funding is the Township of North Huron, which will receive $55,000 through the Senior Active Living Centre Program to aid programs in Wingham and Blyth.

Following that, the Township of Howick is set to get nearly $17,000 via the Rural Ontario Development Program. This funding will be used for the township’s Community Improvement and Beautification Plan.

Victim Services of Huron Perth has also been awarded $32,500 as a one-time boost through the Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario Program.

In addition, REACH Huron is getting $15,720 from the Seniors Community Grant for its project “Eat Well, Live Well Together.” This initiative will offer interactive cooking classes aimed at bringing seniors together. Moreover, Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health will receive $25,000 through the Seniors Community Grant for its “Connect Along the Shore” program that helps seniors learn about technology and stay connected.

“Our government is proud to invest in local initiatives and municipalities that directly improve the quality of life for residents across Huron County,” said MPP Thompson. “Whether it’s empowering our seniors to stay active and connected, revitalizing our rural downtowns, or providing essential, compassionate care to victims of crime, these investments ensure our communities remain strong, healthy, and resilient.”
