Sadly, the unofficial summer holiday season is wrapping up.
This Monday marks Labour Day, a federal statutory holiday that coincides with the U. S. celebration.
All federal, provincial, and municipal government offices will be closed on Monday. There won’t be any delivery from Canada Post.
All Service Ontario locations are closed, though some transactions can be done online.
Banks and credit unions will also be closed on Labour Day.
Fall classes start on Tuesday for all four public school boards in Windsor-Essex.
At St. Clair College, Fall 2026 classes will kick off on Tuesday at all campuses.
The University of Windsor will begin orientation on Tuesday for first-year education students and third and fourth-year nursing students. Fall classes will begin on Thursday for all other students except those in Windsor Law.
If you need to finish up back-to-school shopping, Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a. m. to 6 p. m. on Monday. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a. m. to 5 p. m., while the Windsor Crossing outlet mall in La Salle operates from 10 a. m. to 6 p. m.
The 311 call center will be closed for Labour Day; however, the online service is available around the clock. For municipal emergencies like downed trees or backed-up sewers, call the after-hours line at (519) 255-6326.
The 211 call center will remain open 24 hours as usual.
In the City of Windsor, there won’t be any delays for commercial or residential garbage and yard waste collection due to the holiday; collections will proceed as scheduled.
The public drop-off and chemical waste disposal sites on Central Avenue will close for Labour Day.
All community centers, customer care centers, and arenas in the City of Windsor are also closed on Monday unless there are pre-scheduled rentals.
Outdoor pools in Windsor will stay open as usual until Sunday but will close for the season starting Monday. However, Lanspeary Pool will remain open past Labour Day solely for Aquafitness and Fit Lanes sessions.
Indoor pools will not be open at all on Monday.
The fitness center at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre will welcome guests from noon to 4 p. m. on Labour Day alongside Adventure Bay Family Water Park.
Ice rinks at WFCU Centre are available for rentals between 8 a. m. and 3 p. m., with free public skating from 10 a. m. to noon.
All splash pads located in city parks are open from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m.
Both branches of Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library branches won’t operate this Sunday or Monday.
No parking enforcement occurs in the City of Windsor during Sunday and Monday; street-metered parking is free while garages and surface lots require payment as usual. Payment offices may be closed but payments can still be made online.

The Lakeview Park Marina’s office along with its fuel dock operates daily from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m., while launch ramps open at 6 a. m.

Both Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House close their doors this Monday since it’s their regular day off; however streetcar #351 situated at Legacy Beacon stays operational between 11 a. m. and 7 p. m.
