More than $145,000 is being allocated to support various local projects in Huron County through different provincial government sources.

On Monday, Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson revealed the funding details. The Township of North Huron is set to receive $55,000 from the Senior Active Living Centre Program to enhance programs in Wingham and Blyth.

The Township of Howick will get nearly $17,000 through the Rural Ontario Development Program for its Community Improvement and Beautification Plan.

Victim Services of Huron Perth is being granted $32,500 as one-time additional funding via the Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario Program.

Additionally, REACH Huron has secured $15,720 through the Seniors Community Grant for their project “Eat Well, Live Well Together.” This program will offer engaging culinary classes that bring seniors together. Also receiving support is Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health with $25,000 from the Seniors Community Grant for its “Connect Along the Shore” initiative aimed at helping seniors learn about technology and stay connected.

“Our government is proud to invest in local initiatives and municipalities that directly improve the quality of life for residents across Huron County,” said MPP Thompson. “Whether it’s empowering our seniors to stay active and connected, revitalizing our rural downtowns, or providing essential, compassionate care to victims of crime, these investments ensure our communities remain strong, healthy, and resilient.”
