Authorities have taken two teenagers, aged 14 and 15, into custody following an incident where a boy was stabbed at the Whitby GO Transit station on Monday evening.

According to Durham Regional Police, the victim was in the station’s parking garage just before 8:30 p. m. when he was confronted by the two suspects who attempted to rob him.

The assailants ran away but were found by police not far from the scene, as stated in a news release on Tuesday.

The injured boy was transported to a trauma center in Toronto with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators report that both the victim and the suspects are acquainted with each other.

“This was an isolated incident and there are no concerns for public safety,” police said in the release.

Both teens face charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon dangerous to public safety, and failure to comply. They are currently held in custody pending a bail hearing, according to officials.

Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Central West Division Criminal Investigations Branch or contact Crime Stoppers.

Tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward, police say
