A brand new Asian grocery store, JH Supermarket, opened its doors in West London last Friday.
The location at 820 Blythwood Road, which used to be Rona, now offers fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, seafood and meats, hot meals, bakery goods, international pantry items, beauty products and more.
This independent supermarket proudly claims to be “proudly Canadian, beautifully diverse.” The packaged food sections have a wide range of items from Latin America as well as snacks from Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Southeast Asia and Korea.
With 12 departments available, customers can find fresh produce, seafood options, hot food bars and even a Merry Kids indoor playground.

The playground includes an area for toddlers as well as a main climbing structure for kids to explore and a space for birthday parties. Ticket prices vary from $14.99 to $26.99 based on age.
Linda Pham, who’s studying biology in her fifth year at university, checked out JH Supermarket on its opening day.
“I love giant Asian supermarkets; I’m so used to going to the ones all the way in Toronto, and I like T& T; it’s the closest we’ve got but it isn’t as big as this.”
In addition to typical supermarket offerings, there’s a liquor section with seating for food court dining near the multiple hot food bars and a bubble tea station along with household essentials like pet supplies and party items.

Pham mentioned that JH is similar to T& T., another major Asian grocery store that opened its first location in London two years ago.
“This place has more variety. I think a lot of the prices are cheaper than T& T., but I don’t know if that’s just for marketing when they’re first starting out. So far though-at least for frozen goods and snacks-they seem cheaper than T& T.”
