The impacts of Wednesday’s intense storms in southern Ontario are still being felt, as a portion of Huntington Rd in Vaughan has been completely washed away by floodwaters.
Emergency responders managed to rescue drivers from two tractor trailers that plunged into the creek after the road gave way. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Huntington Rd, located between Rutherford Rd and Trade Valley Drive, is closed for an unspecified time due to a large sinkhole.
York Regional Police have announced that Huntington Rd, between Rutherford Rd and Trade Valley Dr, will remain shut down indefinitely due to the extensive damage.
Authorities are advising drivers to steer clear of the area.
The storms brought strong winds, heavy rain, and hail, causing widespread flooding throughout southern Ontario. Reports include downed trees, power outages affecting around 65,000 residents, and several vehicle rescues as torrential rain overwhelmed local drainage systems. Toronto police noted they received about 300 calls regarding downed power lines in just the past day.
Severe weather alerts were issued during this event, including tornado warnings. The high levels of rainfall exceeded what infrastructure could handle, revealing how susceptible urban areas can be to flash flooding.
