Rezaei shared his thoughts during a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, which took place in Tehran on Thursday.
Recalling Iran’s support for Qatar during tough times, Rezaei highlighted the strong friendship and solidarity between their nations.
The Iranian security official expressed distrust towards Washington, criticizing the US for frequently undermining diplomacy and negotiations.
“If the United States starts any mischief against Iran, we will inflict such damage on their military and economic interests that it will be recorded in history,” Rezaei warned.
He also mentioned that the US needs to take concrete steps to meet Iran’s demands before Iran would consider reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani thanked Iran for its help during challenging times and emphasized the brotherly relationship between both countries.
“We have never had any hesitation in cooperating with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the Qatari prime minister and foreign minister said.
He added that given the sensitive situation in the region, Qatar has always been willing to work with Iran out of a sense of responsibility.
