TORONTO, July 22, 2026 /CNW/ — The Ontario Philharmonic is excited to present LIGHTHOUSE, the iconic Canadian jazz-rock band. They’ll be teaming up with the Ontario Philharmonic’s string ensemble for a night that celebrates over fifty years of innovative music at Toronto’s Koerner Hall on September 10, 2026, starting at 7pm.

When Skip Prokop and Paul Hoffert established LIGHTHOUSE in Toronto back in 1969, they had a groundbreaking vision: to create a band that fused rock’s energy with intricate jazz improvisation and orchestral sounds. This bold approach changed the landscape of popular music.

LIGHTHOUSE quickly made waves internationally by performing at renowned venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Fillmore East and West. They participated in Expo ’70 in Japan and even played twice at the Isle of Wight Festival alongside legends like The Who, The Doors, Joni Mitchell, and Miles Davis. Their live performances drew huge crowds and solidified their status as one of the top acts of the 1970s.

The accolades followed: they won three consecutive Juno Awards for Canada’s Best Group, achieved multiple Gold records, became the first Canadian group to earn a Platinum album in Canada, were inducted into the Q107 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, recognized as Honorary Fellows of the Royal Conservatory of Music and were recently inducted into both the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame and Canadian Walk of Fame.

Today, founding member Paul Hoffert leads an incredibly lively group filled with talented musicians. LIGHTHOUSE isn’t just part of Canada’s rock history-they’re actively creating new chapters as their music shines brighter than ever. Don’t miss this chance to experience their rich history live on September 10, 2026 at Koerner Hall in what promises to be an epic performance.
