Get ready for some wet weather as heavy rain is on the way across the Greater Toronto Area this weekend.
Environment Canada has put out a special weather statement Saturday, warning that rainfall could reach up to 50 millimetres. This alert covers all areas in the GTA, including Halton Hills, Toronto, and Oshawa.
A low pressure system is set to deliver heavy rain to parts of southern Ontario north of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, according to the national forecaster.
The rain will gradually turn into a light drizzle as the system moves from west to east starting early Saturday night through Sunday morning, they noted.
On Saturday, expect a high of 13 C and a low of 10 C. For Sunday, temperatures should reach up to 21 C with a low of 12 C.
The Toronto and Region Conservation Authority stated that while flooding isn’t anticipated at local watersheds despite the forecast, water levels will rise and flows will quicken in rivers and streams. They advised residents to stay clear of riverbanks and shorelines, especially when accompanied by children and pets.
