COLLEGE PARK, MD — Maryland’s versatile player Brayden Martin was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays as the 342nd overall selection in the 11th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday. Martin becomes the 133rd Terrapin to be chosen in the MLB Draft and is the 25th pick over the last decade. Martin, recognized as a third baseman on the All-Big Ten Third Team, had an impressive season at bat. He led his team with a total of 76 hits, placing him among the top ten in the conference. This helped him achieve an on-base percentage of.488, which was second-best in the conference. Additionally, he recorded 21 stolen bases and scored 60 runs during the season, ranking second and fourth respectively within the conference. During this season, Martin set two program records. The first came on April 8 against Navy when he reached base for a remarkable 33 consecutive games to kick off the season, breaking the previous record for an on-base streak at that time. He later extended this record to an impressive total of 46 games. On May 12 against Georgetown, Martin logged his 139th career walk to establish a new program benchmark. He concluded this season with a total of 56 walks, leading all players in Big Ten.
