We are sad to share the peaceful passing of Elizabeth “Liz” “Lisa” Veszpremi (née Marczi) from Pefferlaw, Ontario, on April 25, 2026.
Elizabeth is fondly thought of by her caring brother, Rudi Marczi (Linda), and warmly remembered by her many nieces and nephews-both biological and step-and their families throughout Canada, Hungary, and the United States.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, László Veszpremi; her parents, George Marczi and Elizabeth Marczi (née Lorincz); stepfather Joseph Osso; as well as brothers Joseph Marczi (wife Sue survives him), István Marczi (Roza), and György Marczi (Erzsébet).
At 17 years old, she embraced her Hungarian roots by moving to Budapest to pursue her love for theatre where she met her late husband László. Together they enjoyed an incredible 64 years of marriage filled with love, loyalty, and unwavering support. In 1956, they returned to Canada where Elizabeth continued acting for a few years before establishing a distinguished career at the CBC in Toronto until she retired.
A woman with many skills, she was also a gourmet cook, talented pastry chef, gracious hostess, passionate reader, and dedicated gardener. Time spent at Elizabeth and László’s home was always special.
Their gatherings were lively with delicious meals served around a table filled with laughter, stories, and engaging conversations.
Elizabeth had a warm personality paired with intelligence that made everyone feel welcome. She cherished her friends deeply and had profound love for her family while enriching the lives of those around her through lasting friendships.
The family would like to thank Irene for her dedicated care in earlier years; Linda and Elwin for their steady support during Elizabeth’s final days; as well as the staff at Cedarvale Retirement Lodge for their exceptional attention.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local food bank in memory of Elizabeth.
Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Elizabeth’s life at:
