The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is set to occur in Woodstock and Tillsonburg this Saturday.

OXFORD – The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s returns to Oxford County this year.

The event will happen at College Ave Secondary School in Woodstock and Memorial Park in Tillsonburg this Saturday. Registration kicks off at 9:00 a. m., with the walks starting at 10:00 a. m. All proceeds will support the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.

Leslie Rand, the Director of Development, mentions that it’s a relaxed gathering, all aimed at supporting a meaningful cause.

“You can walk, you can stroll, or you can just sit in a lawn chair and enjoy the folks that are there and the activities! It’s about coming out and showing people living with dementia that they’re not alone.”

She emphasizes how the Alzheimer Society aids thousands of individuals within our community.

“When we say there are 3,000 people in Oxford County living with dementia, there are also potentially 3,000 or more family members and friends supporting that person. We know that nearly 60 percent of those with dementia still live at home; they aren’t in those late stages requiring long-term care. So there’s plenty the Alzheimer Society can do to assist on that journey.”

You can register as part of a team or individually online ahead of time, or you can sign up on the day itself. More details about the Woodstock event can be found online here and information regarding the Tillsonburg event is available online here.

Leslie Rand visited Heart FM studio along with Melissa Mac Lean from IG Wealth Management on Thursday, May 21st. You can listen to their full interview below:
