Honkers Suffer Eighth Straight Loss Against Border Cats

Honkers Suffer Eighth Straight Loss Against Border Cats

THUNDER BAY, Ontario – The Thunder Bay Border Cats dealt the Rochester Honkers their eighth straight defeat on Wednesday, ending with a score of 12-6 in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

The Honkers started strong, going up 2-0 in the top of the second inning, but the Border Cats came back with six runs in the latter part of that inning and never looked back.

Designated hitter Cooper Kruk (University of Arizona) and first baseman Jacob Neutz (Central Michigan University) both hit home runs for the Honkers despite the loss. Neutz brought in three runs and finished with two hits, including a double. Second baseman Angel Santiago (University of South Alabama) also contributed two hits for Rochester.

Pitcher Ethan Peters (William Penn University) struck out six batters during his 4 1/3 innings on the mound for the Honkers.

First baseman Ayden Hadley (Northwest Missouri St. University) racked up three of Thunder Bay’s 11 hits, one of which was a double.

Pitcher Tyler Bribiescas put in a solid performance for the Border Cats over 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and five earned runs while walking two batters and striking out nine.

The Honkers’ record now stands at 13-20 for the second half and 32-35 overall. They have three games left to play, including one final home game against the La Crosse Loggers (21-10, 43-22) on Friday.
