Tragic Accident Claims Life of 17-Year-Old

A 17-year-old pedestrian has lost their life after being struck by a pickup truck near St. Thomas, according to OPP. 

The incident took place around 11:40 a. m. on Monday. 

Emergency responders arrived at John Wise Line between Sunset and Rieger roads in Elgin County. The teenager, who lived in Elgin County, was taken to the hospital but unfortunately pronounced dead there. The driver of the pickup truck, a 57-year-old from Elgin County, was unharmed. 

Authorities have not indicated whether any charges will be filed.
