Niagara regional police have launched an investigation into a deadly tent fire that occurred in St. Catharines, Ont., earlier this week, treating it as a homicide.

According to reports, officers on patrol spotted a tent ablaze in the wooded area of Mountain Locks Park early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters arrived to put out the fire and discovered a deceased man at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Kenneth Dombroskie, who was without a permanent residence.

Authorities say they have concluded that his death was a homicide.

Police are urging anyone with information to reach out to them.

This report by The Canadian Press was first Feb. 13, 2026.
