The Ontario Provincial Police has removed the shelter-in-place order that had been in effect on Saturday, urging residents to stay indoors in Simcoe.

Police were dispatched to the vicinity of Kent Street North and Union Street following reports of a gunshot at approximately 12:58 p. m.

To facilitate their investigation, authorities initially closed Colborne Street North, Union Street, Young Street, and Kent Street.

In an update just before 8 p. m., OPP Sgt. Ed Sanchuk reported that there were no injuries and that the shelter-in-place was no longer necessary.

Nonetheless, the investigation is still ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to law enforcement.

No additional details regarding suspects have been made available at this time.
