MIDHURST – A new partnership between Georgian College Career & Employment Community Services and the County of Simcoe is expanding access to employment and social supports in Orillia, supported by Employ Next powered by Serco.

Starting April 1, 2026, Georgian College will offer its Career & Employment Community Services at the County’s Social and Community Services (SCS) office located at 250 West St. N.

The site on West Street North already serves as a central hub for social and human services, including the Ontario Disability Support Program along with various health and family support services. By adding Georgian College’s employment services, it creates a more convenient, one‑stop solution for residents looking for help with their job search, career planning or getting back into the workforce.

This enhanced service is made possible with support from Employ Next powered by Serco, which acts as the Employment Ontario Service System Manager (SSM) for Simcoe County within the Kitchener-Waterloo-Barrie (KWB) catchment area. In this role, Employ Next coordinates Employment Ontario services at a system level while supporting local service providers to improve connections between employment, social and community supports.

Georgian College has worked together with the County of Simcoe for many years to assist local job seekers throughout the region, including individuals receiving Ontario Works. Their collaboration grew stronger during Ontario’s Integrated Employment Services (IES) transformation in 2024, which aims to better coordinate employment services and social assistance to effectively help people on their journey toward employment.

This initiative showcases Georgian College’s ongoing dedication to the community as a key post-secondary institution and partner in workforce development.

Through its Career & Employment Community Services, Georgian collaborates with municipalities, employers and community organizations to aid job seekers while boosting local economies. Bringing these services together will streamline referrals further enhance teamwork and reduce obstacles for those entering or re-entering the job market. This integrated approach promotes efficient person‑centred service delivery while making it easier for residents to connect with all necessary supports they need.
