Residents and visitors in Bruce County can once again take a closer look at Bruce Power.

Beginning Monday, the nuclear power facility is resuming its popular summer site bus tours.

Starting from the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, this one-hour guided tour will guide guests through the 2,100-acre site in Tiverton. Participants will watch an introductory video before touring around Bruce A and B, Douglas Point, Hydro One’s switchyards, and Ontario Power Generation’s Nuclear Sustainability Services facility.

Last year saw about 6,300 people participate in the tour, which led Bruce Power to extend this year’s tour season until October 8. The buses will operate once daily from Monday to Friday throughout June, daily during July and August, and twice weekly from September into October.

“As we continue to successfully refurbish our units through the major component replacement project and continue to explore the opportunity of building Bruce C, the future of the nuclear industry in Ontario is bright,” said Dwight Irwin, manager of community and external affairs at the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre. “Our bus tour program is a great opportunity for see how we’re creating jobs across the province and powering the future.”

Bruce Power is unique as it’s the only Canadian nuclear station that offers such a close view of its facilities.

If you’re interested in taking part in a bus tour, it’s recommended to pre-register at www. brucepower. com/bustours or call the Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre at 519-361-7777.
