Brightshores Health System is urging people to be proactive about their health during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Everyone eligible in Grey-Bruce is encouraged to schedule a breast screening appointment as part of their regular healthcare routine.
To enhance local diagnostic services and ensure prompt follow-up, Brightshores now provides contrast-enhanced mammography. This specialized procedure uses contrast dye to allow radiologists to view problematic areas more clearly and evaluate any unusual findings.
“Early detection can make all the difference in a patient’s treatment journey. At Brightshores, contrast‑enhanced mammography is available for cases where this may clarify uncertain findings or guide next steps, helping patients receive clear answers and timely follow‑up when it’s most needed,” said Dr. Neil Rosta, Chief of Medical Imaging at Brightshores.
Breast cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women in Ontario. Brightshores’ Ontario Breast Screening Program clinic located in Owen Sound serves individuals throughout Grey-Bruce. In 2025-26, Brightshores has conducted 5,995 screening mammograms.
“Being able to self-refer removes a step that may have kept some people from getting screened. We want people to know that booking a mammogram is simple, close to home and an important way to take charge of their health,” added Beth Morris, VP, Clinical Programs and Quality, Chief Nursing Executive at Brightshores.
