Brightshores Health System is promoting proactive screenings this Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Everyone eligible in Grey-Bruce is encouraged to schedule a breast screening as part of their regular health care routine.
To enhance local diagnostic services and ensure timely follow-up, Brightshores now provides contrast-enhanced mammography. This specialized test uses contrast dye to help radiologists get a clearer view of areas of concern and evaluate any abnormal findings.
“Early detection can make all the difference in a patient’s treatment journey. At Brightshores, contrast‑enhanced mammography is available for cases where this may clarify uncertain findings or guide next steps, helping patients receive clear answers and timely follow‑up when it’s most needed,” said Dr. Neil Rosta, Chief of Medical Imaging at Brightshores.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in Ontario. Brightshores’ Ontario Breast Screening Program clinic in Owen Sound caters to individuals from all over Grey-Bruce. In 2025-26, Brightshores completed 5,995 screening mammograms.
“Being able to self-refer removes a step that may have kept some people from getting screened. We want people to know that booking a mammogram is simple, close to home and an important way to take charge of their health,” added Beth Morris, VP, Clinical Programs and Quality, Chief Nursing Executive at Brightshores.
