A strong line of severe thunderstorms moved through southern Ontario on Wednesday, bringing high winds, hail, heavy rain, and tornado warnings.
The storms knocked down trees and power lines across the area, leading to enough rainfall to create localized flooding. At around 7:25 p. m. EDT on Wednesday, CP24 reported that police were actively rescuing individuals from flooded vehicles in Toronto after a heavy downpour left about 65,000 people without power.

As per various reports, another rescue operation took place at the Jane Street and Highway 7 intersection in Vaughan, Ont., due to significant flooding. Many vehicles were stuck in floodwaters and needed assistance from the Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service. It was noted that around 20 cars were trapped in the water.
Numerous road closures and accidents were reported throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) because of flooding and high winds. Additionally, many events had to be postponed or cancelled.
Many regions experienced between 20 and over 130 mm of rain quickly, resulting in flooding problems on several local roads.

During the peak of the storm, Hydro One reported over 155,000 outages across the southern parts of the province.

The storm generated powerful wind gusts reaching up to 100 km/h in some communities as it intensified.
Hail was also a concern; one hail core exceeded 5 cm in certain areas within the Greater Toronto Area.

A new risk for thunderstorms is expected over southern Ontario on Thursday; however, they should be less intense overall.
