A pedestrian has lost their life after being hit by an SUV while trying to cross Highway 404 in Richmond Hill on Saturday, according to police.
Officers arrived at the scene of the accident at 8:54 a. m. in the southbound lanes near Highway 7, as stated in a post from Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).
The victim, aged 77, was declared dead at the scene, police confirmed.
The driver was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
The southbound lanes of Highway 404 at 16th Avenue were closed but reopened around 2:30 p. m.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to get in touch with them.
