Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking into a suspicious death that happened in the Township of Greater Madawaska.

According to a news release from Thursday, officers from the Renfrew detachment were called just before 6 p. m. on Wednesday to Lanark Road, where they discovered a deceased individual.

Police have not shared any immediate details regarding the identity of the victim.

The release stated that investigators think this death is an isolated event and there are no signs of any wider threat.

Residents in the area should expect to see more police presence as officers carry on with their investigation, police noted.
