A man and a woman from Port Elgin have been charged with drug trafficking and weapon-related offences after an investigation.
The pair is currently in custody facing several charges related to drugs and weapons following a police operation in Port Elgin just over a month ago. Authorities did not confirm their relationship but referred to ‘their residence” in a news release on July 7.

Saugeen Shores Police Service reported that on June 3, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle at the intersection of Mill St. and Arlington St. in Port Elgin. The police were aware that this vehicle had been linked to previous crimes and was associated with a male who had active warrants issued by Saugeen Shores Police for various offences.
The vehicle was being driven by a woman with a male passenger. Because of potential public safety concerns, police chose not to stop the vehicle at that moment, according to the release.
Later, they found the vehicle – abandoned – in a parking lot within Port Elgin. <p According to the release, officers then saw the man and woman walking northbound on Bricker St., identified the male as having outstanding warrants, and arrested him.
A search of his person revealed a significant amount of suspected drugs, leading to further charges for possession with intent to distribute. The woman was also arrested for possession with intent to distribute. The police then seized the vehicle from the parking lot for inspection, as well as what authorities described as “their residence,” without specifying its location.
Items taken included: $2,460 cash, 50.5g cocaine, 33.4g fentanyl; 91.5g of suspected cocaine; scales; debt list; seven cell phones; Colt Revolver replica handgun; ammunition; and drug paraphernalia.
