Environment Canada has put out a severe thunderstorm watch for the Ottawa-Gatineau area.
The weather agency mentioned Tuesday morning that conditions are right for strong thunderstorms that could bring high winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall.
The storm may begin this morning and continue into the afternoon, possibly lasting into early evening, according to the agency.
Wind gusts could reach up to 110 km/h, with hail the size of golf balls and over 50 millimetres of rain expected in some areas, based on the watch.
This alert covers a wide region of eastern Ontario. A similar yellow thunderstorm watch is also in effect for parts of western Quebec.
The yellow watch is the lowest tier on Environment Canada’s three-level scale.
The agency warned that local power outages might occur as well.
