Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have taken a second individual into custody, charging them with first-degree murder related to the disappearance and death of Robert Prevost, who went missing last year east of Ottawa.
Prevost, a 63-year-old resident of Clarence-Rockland, was last seen in February 2025 and was reported as missing the following month. His body was recovered from the Ottawa River that May, leading to a homicide investigation.
Last week, OPP announced they had arrested and charged 51-year-old Luc Decarie from St-Gabriel-de-Brandon, Que., with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and indignity to a body.
On Friday, OPP revealed that following further inquiries and assistance from the Gatineau Police Service, they apprehended and charged 37-year-old Jessica St. Michael with first-degree murder and indignity to a body.
She was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
OPP stated that various units participated in the investigation including canine, aviation, underwater teams as well as SAVE (Snowmobile, ATV, Vessel Enforcement) teams. The investigation remains ongoing.
