Knife Attack in Oshawa Involves Two Teens

Authorities report that two teenage boys, both with prior arrests, are facing charges after allegedly pursuing two other males while brandishing knives.

According to a statement from Durham police, around 5:30 p. m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, officers responded to calls about “unknown trouble” in the vicinity of Glen Street and Malaga Road in Oshawa.

Police claim that the two teenagers were chasing another pair of males while armed with knives and both suspects fled as officers arrived at the scene.

Thanks to drone assistance, officers were able to track down and apprehend both suspects before taking them into custody.

No injuries have been reported related to this incident.

A 15-year-old boy from Oshawa is facing multiple charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, obstructing a peace officer, and failing to comply with a sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. At the time of his arrest, he was prohibited from having any weapons.

The second teen, also a 15-year-old from Oshawa, faces similar charges. Police noted that he had outstanding warrants and was on probation at the time.

Both teens are being held for a bail hearing.
