OSHAWA, ONT. – The Governments of Canada and Ontario have revealed that they are providing over $41 million in joint funding for two housing projects in Oshawa.
The site at 1707 Ritson Rd. N. is set to feature a 66-unit development of stacked and back-to-back townhouses, with an expected completion date in December.
This project is benefiting from more than $7 million in combined funding through the Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative and the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative, along with a $27.5 million investment from the federal government’s Affordable Housing Fund, as stated in a release.
Conant Place, situated at 1050 Simcoe St. S., is a 54-unit affordable rental building that was finished in September 2025. This initiative aims to help reduce the seniors rental housing waitlist in Durham Region and includes affordable units designated for seniors and individuals with disabilities. It received support from an Ontario Priorities Housing Initiative investment of over $6.9 million.
The new residences will be managed by the Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation and will provide a variety of unit sizes and different levels of affordability to meet the needs of residents in Oshawa, totaling 120 units.
