There was a noticeable police presence at the Amherstview Golf Club parking lot around noon on Sunday, Jun. 7, 2026. In response to inquiries about the investigation from Kingstonist the next day, Sergeant Erin Cranton of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region stated, “An incident has been reported and is being investigated; further details will be released as they become available.”

On Wednesday, Jun. 10, 2026, Cranton shared more information regarding the incident, confirming that police were looking into a sexual assault case in “a parking lot in the Amherstview area.” Kingstonist has asked for confirmation that this parking lot is indeed that of the golf course.

As reported by police, officers from Lennox and Addington (L& A) County Detachment of OPP responded to the sexual assault report on Sunday morning.

“The victim and the accused had prior contact before the incident,” Cranton mentioned in an email to Kingstonist.

“The victim sustained serious injuries and attended hospital for treatment.”

Police have not revealed details about the nature of these injuries.

According to OPP, following their investigation, a 24-year-old named Eric Barlow from Loyalist Township has been charged with:

Aggravated sexual assault Sexual assault causing bodily harm – choke, suffocate, or strangle Sexual assault causing bodily harm

Barlow was released after a bail hearing, according to police.

The investigation by OPP into this incident is still ongoing. Anyone with helpful information is encouraged to contact Lennox and Addington OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Those who wish to remain anonymous can reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at ontariocrimestoppers. ca.
