The Up and Coming Award recognizes alumni who are making a significant difference early in their careers. At just 16, Japnit Ahuja, Bachelor of Science (Computer Science), class of 2024, started the non-profit Go Girl Organization, which has provided over 500 free coding workshops to more than 2,000 students in India. For her undergraduate thesis, she developed Snap Code, an app that helps kids with limited access to technology learn programming without computers: they can write code on paper, scan it with a mobile device, and engage with it. She holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Making Auto Easy, a Techstars San Francisco 2025 cohort startup highlighted by CBC and . Additionally, she advocates for women in tech globally, speaking at TEDx; Canadian Celebration of Women in Computing (one of Canada’s largest women-in-tech conferences); and NASA Space Apps Challenge.
