Joseph Yevcak Turner, 95, passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2026. He had called Garland, Texas home for 56 years.

Joseph was born on June 8, 1930, in Crowland, Ontario, Canada, close to Niagara Falls. His parents, Joseph and Ann Yevcak, immigrated from Czechoslovakia to Canada in the mid-1920s with their strong work ethic and love for family that shaped Joseph’s life.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Tannahill and Ann Metcalf. He is survived by his brother Frank Bahula from Simcoe, Ontario, Canada.

Joseph is also survived by his wife Martha Turner and his children along with their families who brought him so much happiness: his daughter Debbie Morgan and her husband Jack; their children Heather Cheyne and her husband JR (and their kids Caden and Reaghan), as well as Ariel Morgan (fiancé Ryan King). Additionally, he leaves behind his son Joey Turner and his wife Lee Ann; their kids Dawson Turner, Grace Turner, Zach Hearn (and his children Lucas and Cas), along with Abigail Hearn.

Growing up in the 1930s and 40s meant working tobacco fields where he learned a solid work ethic that guided him throughout life. He was a genuine salesman at heart when it meant knocking on doors and building trust through personal interactions. Joseph had a knack for making people feel appreciated and strived to leave everyone better off than he found them.

Over the years, he owned a well-known Look Magazine franchise and worked with Jewel T as well as Schwan’s frozen foods. Even after retiring, he kept helping others by delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need.

Joseph was famous for his quick wit. Making jokes and bringing laughter into people’s lives was something he truly enjoyed. He also loved reading books and had a talent for storytelling that brightened every room he entered.

In recent years of his life, Joseph embraced Jesus more deeply through reading the Bible while seeking closer ties to God within his church community.

A graveside service will take place on March 5th, 2026 at 1:00 p. m. It will be held in the Court of Gabriel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 13005 Greenville Avenue at Restland Road intersection in Dallas Texas 75243. The funeral home can be contacted at 972‑238‑7111.
