April 28, 1947 – May 25, 2026

With great sadness, the family of Victoria Norris (nee Glena) shares that she passed away on Monday morning, May 25th, at the age of 79. She left us peacefully with her loved ones around her at TBRHSC after bravely fighting ALS.

Vicki was born on April 28th, 1947, in Rorketon, Manitoba, to Annie and Paul Glena. She was the eleventh of thirteen siblings. Growing up in Hudson and Sioux Lookout area, she created many happy memories playing baseball, swimming at the docks, dancing, and curling.

She began her career as a healthcare aide and later earned a degree in social work. Vicki’s love for helping people inspired her to foster children for over 25 years. Her interests included knitting, bingo, clogging dance classes, and celebrating her Ukrainian heritage through cooking. Staying connected with friends and family on social media was very important to her; she always made sure to keep everyone posted on curling results.

Even during her struggle with ALS, Vicki showed incredible strength and positivity. We hold close all the recipes shared with us, advice offered freely, and wonderful memories we have together. She will also be remembered for her quick wit, generosity, and captivating stories.

Vicki will be greatly missed by her children Trina (Brad), Shelley (Steve), Neil (Bonnie), and Lyle; her siblings Wally, Eva, Harry, and Liz; grandchildren Hailey (Nic), Caitlin (Jesse), Lana, Jeremy, Nicolas, and Michael; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Annie and Paul as well as siblings John, Mary, Stephanie, Mike, Tony, Olga, Morris, and Lawrence.

A sincere thank you goes out to the staff on the fifth floor at Southbridge Lakehead for their outstanding care during her time there. Vicki truly appreciated how they made her feel comfortable, safe, and loved. Their friendly visits brightened her days as they shared personal stories and laughter together.

We also want to express our gratitude to Dr. Simpson and the team at TBRHSC for their kindness during her final days. Additionally, we acknowledge the support from ALS Canada that helped Vicki’s family navigate through this challenging journey.

A Celebration of Life is set for Sunday July 5 from 1 to 4 pm at the Oliver Road Community Centre.

If you’d like to honor Vicki’s memory further, in lieu of flowers, direct donations can be made to ALS Canada or any charity you prefer.

Mama, we will miss you. Rest peacefully.
