We sadly announce the passing of Russell William Cunningham on October 31, 2025, after a brave fight with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family at just 40 years old. Russell was a devoted husband and partner to Dayna for two decades and a caring father to William and Jack. His loyal friend Henry will miss him dearly. He is lovingly remembered by his mother Patricia Cunningham (nee Mailloux) and father Greg (Janine) Cunningham. As a son-in-law, he held a special place in the hearts of Lynn Chalut (George Wong) and Hugo (Madonna) Ferrone. He was also an adored brother-in-law to Jordan (Megan), Sarah (Besim), and Payton (Bailey). Russell leaves behind many cherished relatives, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends from Windsor, Toronto, and Vancouver. A nature enthusiast, he loved camping, hiking, and fishing with his sons. Russell was passionate about the Electronic Music scene in Detroit, Windsor, and Vancouver. He enjoyed working in the IT Department at St. Clair College across both campuses in Windsor and Chatham. Sports were another love of his; he enjoyed playing golf and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the nurses, volunteers, and staff at the Hospice of Windsor/Essex County for their care. The family is especially grateful to his mother-in-law Lynn for her endless support during his illness; her presence at appointments made a big difference as did her help with their children. Visitation will take place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Central Chapel), located at 1700 Tecumseh Rd E., on Tuesday November 4th from 2:00 – 5:00pm and again from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Following Russell’s wishes, cremation will happen later on with interment taking place privately among immediate family members. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hospice of Windsor/Essex County. Online condolences along with fond memories can be shared with the family at www. windsorchapel. com
