SLADIC, Mary “Maca” (nee: Sekula) Born May 14, 1947 in Dubravcani, Croatia. It’s with heavy hearts that we share the sudden and unexpected loss of Mary on April 20, 2026 at the age of 78 years. Mary was a strong woman who most recently faced a brave battle with breast cancer. She was a loving wife and best friend to her late husband Petar “Peter” Sladic (2014), with whom she would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary. A devoted “Mama” to Jure “George” and his wife Katie Sladic, Peter and his late wife Chantal Sladic (2025), and Suzee Sladic. Cherished Baka to Reighna and Riela Sladic. Predeceased by her parents Josip and Magda Sekula. Dear sister to Barka Frketic and her husband Josip; late Mate Sekula, and late Mica Sekula; along with all their families. Adored sister-in-law to Branko and his wife Maca Sladic and family. Mary was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church. She had retired from her job at Banner Metal. Mary inspired everyone around her with her kindness. Her unconditional love was the greatest gift any mother could offer to her family. Mary took great joy in celebrating life with her precious grandchildren. She will always be remembered as a gentle soul by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Visitation at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME (Central), 1700 Tecumseh Rd. E. (519) 253-7234, on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 2-5 p. m. and 7-9 p. m. Parish prayers at 7 p. m. Funeral Service on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 9:15 a. m., starting from the funeral home then moving to St. Francis of Assisi Croatian Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10 a. m. Interment will follow at Windsor Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations honoring Mary’s life may be made to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County.
