The family of Elizabeth Wapash from Yorkton, who was the loving wife of the late Dennis Wapash, sadly share that she passed away on April 11, 2026. Elizabeth was 70 years old.

Visitation will take place at Bailey’s Funeral Home Chapel, located at 45 5th Avenue North in Yorkton, on Tuesday, April 14 from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m.

A Wake is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 starting at 4:00 p. m. at the Keeseekoose Band Hall on Keeseekoose First Nation.

The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 16 at 1:00 p. m., also taking place at the Keeseekoose Band Hall with Pastor Tommy Strongquill and Shirley Pelletier officiating.

Interment will follow in the Keeseekoose Traditional Cemetery.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Ann Wapash (nee Nepinak) passed away on April 11, 2026 at the age of 70.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth was known by many names: wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, auntie and ‘old yeller’ (a nickname given by Uncle Robert).

In her earlier years, she held various jobs including cashier, cook and family support worker. She always found a way to make things work in whatever position she had. Her last role was as an addiction counsellor at the Saulteaux Healing and Wellness Centre. She truly enjoyed helping her clients and celebrating their successes. Everyone loved her dearly.

Elizabeth was a wonderful matriarch not only to our family but also to her siblings. She cherished visiting family members in Pine Creek.

A kind-hearted person through and through, Elizabeth cared deeply for everyone she met. She had a strong faith and loved Jesus wholeheartedly. Her faith remained strong even when faced with health challenges. While in the hospital, she continued praying for her family and others.

Mourning her passing are her children Dennis Jr., Liza (Mervin), Shannon, Greg (Alison), and Denise (Rob); grandchildren Kyler, Dylan, DJ, Dennisa, Matthew, Liam, Joey, Celeste, Christina, Allison, Eve, Glori-Love; Ambrose Jr., Abbie; Hunter; Sophia; Lucas; brothers Tommy (Inez), Leslie (Natalie), Sandy (Lucienne), Harvin; sisters Sandra (Bernie), Shirley; De-Anna (Ruben), Annie; Marie (John).

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dennis Wapash; parents Felix Nepinak and Mary Jane Strongquill; grandparents Joe Cathgas and Jane Cathgas; brother Robert Strongquill along with Camille Nepinak and Marie Chartrand; sisters Norma Strongquill and Vivian Gaouette.

I believe Jesus welcomed her home but gave us extra time with her here. Our moments together were just right as they should have been. All Glory to God.

“Jesus said to her ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’ Do you believe this?”

“Yes Lord,” she replied “I believe that you are the Messiah the Son of God who is to come into the world.”
