March 8, 2001 – May 20, 2026

We are heartbroken to share the news that Kyle Sturgeon from Kingfisher Lake First Nation, who was born on March 8, 2001, passed away on May 20, 2026, at 5:59 am central time. He was just 25 years old.

Kyle is survived by his parents Sam and Greta Sturgeon, as well as his brothers Sheldon Sturgeon, Landon Sturgeon, and Andrew Suggashie. His sisters include Samantha Sturgeon, Kimberly Sturgeon, Keanna Sturgeon, and Hilary Suggashie. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is mourned by his uncles Daniel (Sarah Ann) Sturgeon and Myles (Martha) Sturgeon along with aunts Mary Kanakakessic, Betty (Eno) Mckay, Clara Wapenisk, Amanda Eaglestick, Shelly Eaglestick, April Eaglestick, Cher Owen, Sandra Quilland and grandmother Blanche Eaglestick. Numerous relatives in Kingfisher Lake, Weagamow, Wunnumin Lake, Pikangikum and Little Grand Rapids in Manitoba will miss him dearly.

Friends may pay their respects in Thunder Bay at the EVEREST – WESTFORT CHAPEL located at 420 West Gore Street on Sunday, May 24, 2026 starting at 11:00 am.

Kyle will then be taken home to Kingfisher Lake First Nation. A Wake Service is set for Sunday evening at 6:00 pm in St. Matthew’s Anglican Church. The Funeral Service will take place in the Church on Monday May 25th at 1:00 pm led by Bishop Lydia Mamakwa and Rev. Amos Winter. Interment will follow at the Kingfisher Community Cemetery.
