Rev. Kathleen Addison (née Pyszko) passed away at her home on November 5th, holding her beloved dog Blaise close. She loved to bask in the sun and enjoyed long walks each day after moving to Florida, following her time as a minister in the United Church of Canada. Kathleen was one-of-a-kind, with a passion for art and politics. Her life revolved around a dedication to peace and social justice, which she attributed to her early teachers, the Catholic nuns in Lynn, MA, who took her to a civil rights march with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr-a moment that shaped her deeply.

As an active war resister during the Vietnam War, Kathleen found herself in Ontario, Canada, where she raised four sons while pursuing studies for ministry. People remember her for hosting memorable birthday parties, knitting lovely baby clothes (now worn by two generations of Addison children), being patient and playful with kids, and always being an open-minded listener who provided support. In retirement, she volunteered on election days in Pinellas County and engaged with her faith community at Church of the Isles.

Kathleen walked at her own pace but moved steadily through life’s journey. Though sometimes messy and chaotic, she taught others the value of enjoying simple yet meaningful pleasures: reading books, painting pictures, taking walks, contributing to community life, and connecting with family and friends on their terms.

<p Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Arlene Pyszko. She is lovingly remembered by her sons Marc, Peter (Amy), Lincoln (Christina), John-Luke (Michelle); grandchildren Geordy, Hayden, Naomi, Sam, and Casey; brother Frank; nephews Chris (Bree) and Tim; great-niece Shay; along with an extended network of family friends and her community at Church of the Isles.

A heartfelt thanks goes out to Rev. Wesley Snedecker for providing exceptional support to Kathleen and our family during the later years of her life.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers we encourage donations in Kathleen’s memory to Church of the Isles: https://churchoftheisles. org/giving.
