At 90 years old, he kept working until he was called to heaven, hanging up his hard hat and turning off his drafting-table lamp for the last time on January 28th. No doubt there will be some heavenly design updates to come. Jerry was a co-founder and senior architect at Glos Associates Inc. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from Mc Gill University. With over 50 years of experience in architectural design, he continued to work right up until the end. He truly embodied the saying, “You have to love what you do,” and he did so with great passion. As a licensed architect, Jerry was part of the Ontario Association of Architects and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Some local projects he contributed to include the GM Trim Plant, The Adie Knox Herman Memorial Recreation Complex, The printing facility, and the Windsor Transit Terminal. He received several civic design awards for excellence in design, including the Premier’s Award for Accessibility for renovating All Saints Church in 1985 and two Windsor Construction Association awards of Merit, including one in 2011 for Hospitality Institutions. In June 2014, he was honored as a “Fellow” at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Convocation in Calgary. His strong commitment to his community also earned him the Charles Clark Award for his numerous volunteer efforts at the University of Windsor. Family was another important part of his life. Jerry took his children and grandchildren on many travel adventures, most recently enjoying a Caribbean Cruise over New Year’s. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Geraldine, who holds many beautiful memories along with a closet full of stylish men’s clothes. Jerry provided his lucky children Martha (John) Burrows and Tim (Krista) Glos with a life that many only dream about. He was a role model and cheerleader-a man rooted in deep Christian faith-and an inspiration to his treasured grandchildren Mc Kenzie and Addie Burrows, Julia (fiancé Michael Knight), Amanda, Isaac and Eric Glos. Throughout his life, he served on various Boards and Committees; however, the one that meant most to him was being CEO, CFO and driver of the Boys Club-just him with his three grandsons. Important decisions were made at meetings typically held at Timmys where the CFO took charge of refreshments. Jerry has joined his brothers Carl, Martin, David and John on their new job site but is survived by one sister Mary (late Ed) Rishaw along with many nieces and nephews. Memorial visiting hours are Friday from 3-5 p. m., then again from 7-9 p. m., at FAMILIES FIRST FUNERAL HOME located at 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor (519-969-5841). On Saturday family and friends are invited to gather at Banwell Community Church (2400 Banwell Rd., Windsor ON N8P1X9) starting at 10:30 a. m., leading up to further visitation until funeral service begins at 11:30 a. m.
