MASON, Donald George
26 February 1927 – 9 January 2014

Donald George Mason of Collingwood passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at the age of 87 after a short illness. He was married for 65 years to his beloved wife and dance partner June (nee Morice). He is survived by his children Nancy (Bill) Johnston and Peter (Mijo) Mason, both from Collingwood. He was a proud grandfather to Darren (Andrea) Johnston of Collingwood, Melanie (Scott) Mc Lean of Barrie, Adam (Krystie) Johnston of Sudbury, Patrick (Heather) Mason of Huntsville, and Christa Dickinson-Johnston of Stayner. Don also had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Amy-Lyn and Alexander Johnston, Sophie and Charlotte Mc Lean, and Marigold Mason. He is remembered as a brother to Carol (Don) Twigger from Wasaga Beach, Gwen (Bob) Stoll from St. Catharines, and Trish (Wolf) Glende from Marana, Arizona. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Amy (nee Young) Mason as well as his brothers Charles, Bud (Joe), and Laurie (Larry) Mason. Don will be fondly remembered for his humor, stories, and laughter by many who knew him. A memorial service is scheduled for 12 p. m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 with visitation an hour prior at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel. If you wish to make a memorial donation in Don’s name, please consider the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital or another charity you prefer.
