Diane Sullivan Dana, age 90, of Ontario NY, passed away on January 10, 2026, due to natural causes. She was born and raised in Cape Vincent, NY, as the daughter of Winifred and John Sullivan. Diane had a deep affection for the St. Lawrence River and enjoyed her evening visits to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse to watch the sunset. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Francis W. Dana; her brothers John and Jerry; as well as her daughter-in-law Pam Dana and son-in-law Don Evans. Her faith was central to her life. For 63 years, she was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church. Diane served as a Eucharistic minister and was part of the Martha ministry. She took immense joy in being the biggest supporter and loudest cheerleader for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at their sports events and activities. Her enthusiasm extended to cheering for her favorite Buffalo Bills team too. Diane loved traveling; she visited places like the Holy Land, Germany, Rome, Ireland, Alaska, and Hawaii. No matter where she went-at home or abroad-she easily made friends and often ran into someone from back home. As a competitor at heart, she won numerous golf and bowling championships throughout her life. An avid euchre player too, she enjoyed spirited cribbage games with family members. Diane earned the “Grand Master” title in bridge but mostly played for fun with close friends during long game sessions together. She belonged to both the Xerox Pioneer Club and the Xerox Senior Singles group where she organized monthly luncheons. Diane filled her life with celebrations; surrounded by family during her 90th birthday party-a spectacular event-it became an unforgettable parade! Those left to celebrate her memory include her children: David (Barbara) Dana, Joann Evans, Daryl (Marisa) Dana, and Bill (Amy) Dana; along with 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Patricia Reinbeck and Rosemarie Sullivan; plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Mass honoring Diane’s life will take place on April 25, 2026 at Noon at St. Mary’s of the Lake Catholic Church located at 5823 Walworth Road in Ontario NY 14519. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Instead of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory can be sent to the National Kidney Foundation or Pines of Peace Comfort Care Home.
