Two men from Barrie are among 63 people charged in a child exploitation probe by the Ontario Provincial Police, Barrie Police and 24 other police forces.

Authorities say Project Time was a unified provincial initiative aimed at finding and catching those who exploit children.

During the investigation, 51 victims were identified, and the inquiry is still ongoing.

Police report they focused on individuals involved in creating, possessing, and distributing child sexual abuse material.

In total, there were 213 charges filed, with 814 electronic devices confiscated. Two of those accused held positions of trust within their communities, and eight had previous offenses.

Members of the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy understand that law enforcement can’t tackle these crimes alone. They emphasize that parents, educators, child advocacy groups, government entities, and tech companies play a vital role in protecting children.
