March 25, 1958 – May 13, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that the family shares the news of Darlene White’s passing after a brief but tough health battle she faced with great strength.

Born in Swan River and raised in Minitonas, Manitoba, and Thunder Bay’s East End, she retired from her role at the City of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged after dedicating 30 years to caring for seniors and supporting her coworkers.

Darlene lived her life showing that real richness comes from simple pleasures. She was a natural nurturer, straightforward in her words, and a “hugger” whose kitchen table served as a haven filled with comfort, strong coffee, and heartfelt advice for all who visited.

Country music played throughout her life. Like her favorite Dolly Parton song says, Darlene’s journey was like a “Coat of Many Colours”-woven together with kindness, dedication, and deep love.

Darlene shared an incredible romance with her husband Bill for nearly 50 years; they were often seen two-stepping in their kitchen while their faithful dog Samantha lounged nearby or fulfilling their dream of transforming a lakeside shack into their cherished summer getaway alongside friends they considered family. Otherwise, you could find her shopping with her sister Kathy.

Her memory will be held dear by her devoted husband Bill White; along with loving family members Cody White, Rob (Tracy) White, Lindsay (Brad) White, and Cassidy White. Courtney also brought much happiness to Dar’s home.

Darlene was the daughter of the late Henry and Irene Blandford. She is survived by three sisters and their families: Kathryn Alice Crease (husband Sal Mamolotti), including sons Michael James Gerry (Jenn) and Danny Henry Gerry (Alison); Cher Diane Blandford with daughter Shauna Marie (Mickey) Parkin (and son Sinclair Smith) plus son Nathan Giba; and Karren Lainn (Jerry) Livingston along with children Aaron, Crystal, Levi and grandchildren Alanah, Carter, Kam , and Scarlett.

Darlene also leaves behind loved ones on the White side-William “Bill” and Norma White’s sons, daughters, and grandchildren-as well as all those connected through marriage. Many were some of Darlene’s closest friends.

She had a chosen family that included Lorrie and Wayne Jr. Potter (who remember their late parents Sharon “Partner” and Wayne Sr. Potter), Tim and Kim Binmore along with their family members too many lifelong friends to mention.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
