August 29th, 1946 – February 7th, 2020
He passed away peacefully in the hospital on Friday, February 7th, 2020 at the age of 73, surrounded by his children. He was the son of the late Alexander Glennie and Irene (nee Savage). Brian was a devoted father to Rebecca (Paul Danks) and Adam (Robin Glennie). He took great pride in being a grandfather to Chloe and Charlize Danks. He was also a beloved brother to Keith Glennie. Many will fondly remember Brian among his extended family and numerous friends. Hockey was his passion. He had an impressive career that included playing for the Toronto Marlies (Memorial Cup Champions in 1967); representing Team Canada at the Olympics in 1968; playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs; participating in Team Canada’s Summit Series in 1972; and finishing with the LA Kings. After hanging up his skates, he transitioned to working at York Litho printing company. He enjoyed several wonderful years living in Muskoka where he loved spending time on the water and hitting the golf course. Blunt always knew how to bring life to any gathering with his sense of humor and playful pranks directed at his friends. Good times filled with great music and close friendships were essential to him. In his later years, he faced various health challenges and moved to Ottawa so he could be nearer to his grandchildren. The family wishes to express their gratitude towards all health care providers who cared for him during his final years. One piece of advice Brian often shared with family and friends was
“Enjoy your life. Be brave. Follow your heart.”
