Barbara Jean Money (née Gray)

Barbara J. Money, 98, of Little Canada, MN, passed away on December 5th, 2025 at home after a brief illness. She had lived at Cardigan Ridge Senior Living in Little Canada for the past eight years after relocating to Minnesota in August 2017 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Born on August 15, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she graduated from Shortridge High School in June 1945. Barbara married Harland E. Money, also from Indianapolis, on September 7, 1947. Together they raised two daughters, Lee Ann and Sandy, later moving to Muncie, Indiana for Harland’s job.

Always aspiring to be a teacher, Barbara began her college education at age 36 when her children were both in school. She attended Ball State University to earn her teaching degree and graduated in 1970. Two years later she earned her Masters in Education in June 1972. Barbara first taught at Gaston Elementary and later at Wes-Del Middle School until retiring in 1993. During this time she was active in various educational organizations. She served as president of the Pi Lambda Theta Alpha Chapter from 1976-1978 and was the President of the Delaware County Reading Association. Additionally, she was a member of the Beta Mu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoyed gardening, reading, listening to music and preparing holiday meals for her family. While living in Muncie she was an engaged member of Hazelwood Christian Church and participated in their choir.

Barbara is survived by her daughters Lee Ann (Ed Merkert) and Sandra (Michael Dolce), along with grandchildren Jim and Sara Dolce.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harland Money, mother Bertha Fry, and brother Wayne Gray.

A funeral service for Barbara will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 13 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home – Roseville located at 2130 N. Dale St. at County Rd B. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM that Saturday prior to the service. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.

The funeral service will be livestreamed on this obituary page Saturday December 13 starting at 11:00 AM

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Cardigan Ridge Senior Living for their music program or Hazelwood Christian Church – Muncie Indiana.
