Mark Perkin ~ unexpectedly, in the home he crafted with his own hands, Mark Wesley Perkin, of R. R.1, Gowanstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the age of 48.

Predeceased by his father Harold, Mark is survived by his loving wife Jennifer (Mc Kinnon) Perkin and their three daughters, Stephanie, Geneva and Claire. He will also be remembered by his mother Gwen Perkin of Listowel, sister Debra (Steven) Brown of Parkhill, brother Kim (Susan) Perkin of Belwood, along with many nieces and nephews.

Mark was a builder. Following in the footsteps of his late father and grandfather in the carpentry trade, he constructed or remodeled numerous residential and commercial buildings. However, Mark’s true legacy lies in his family. His “boys” were everything to him and brought him immense joy. Always young at heart, Stephanie, Geneva and Claire gave him plenty of reasons to show off his playful side and love for life. One of his favorite spots was Disney World where he managed to visit every year until recently. Mark particularly enjoyed sharing his lifelong love for skiing with his girls and made countless memories at Blue Mountain together including learning how to snowboard.

Mark had a soft spot for animals (except snakes) and took pride in having several dogs, horses and donkeys among his companions.

He was well-known around Stratford after spending many years working for the city in the Engineering and Public Works Department as a Construction Inspector.

Friends are invited to visit at the Eaton Funeral Home in Listowel on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p. m., as well as from 7:00 p. m. to 9:00 p. m.

A celebration of Mark’s life will take place at Listowel Missionary Church on Saturday, January 26th at 11:00 a. m., with Pastor Steven Brown and Rev. George Russell officiating.

If you wish to make a contribution instead of sending flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Humane Society.
