John passed away peacefully on July 8, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 82. He was born on May 24, 1927, in East London, England. He was a devoted husband to Darlene (nee Siddle, Trudell). John was a caring father to Debbie Naklie and her husband Fraser, Kevin Trudell and his wife Laurie, Jack Trudell and his partner Debbie from Kirkland Lake, Wendy Trudell from Etobicoke, Jacqueline Barnard, Glynis Hill and her husband Dave from Woodstock, and Keith Barnard from Toronto. His grandchildren Chris Naklie and his wife Jen, Aaron Naklie with friend Bridget, the late Jesse Trudell (2006) and wife Amanda, Kelley Trudell, Kendall Trudell and fiancé Chuck all of Windsor; Shane Trudell and Kyle Clancy of Etobicoke; Cole, Gillian, Garett and Jay Hill of Woodstock will miss him dearly. He is also survived by his cherished great-grandchildren Payton Naklie; Hunter and Olivia Naklie; Jayden Trudell; Jaxon Trudell; Payton Norris all from Windsor. John was a much-loved brother-in-law to Jack Siddle and his wife Sally as well as Bonnie Pye and her husband Brian along with their families. He leaves behind many close friends who cared for him deeply including Bernice Donaldson and her late husband Jack (2008) along with Illah and Albert Bryan. John’s parents both passed away in England where he grew up as one of fourteen children; he has one sister still living there. Several nieces and nephews remain in England too – especially his dear nephew David Reed and wife Linda from Southend along with niece Joan (Pixie) Monk and her partner Rodney from High Ongar. During the Second World War he served in the R. A. S. C. (Air Dispatch). In 1953 he made Canada his home where he worked hard throughout his life. He was an active member of the Air Force Club of Windsor as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #94. Bowling and playing darts were among his favorite pastimes. As a dedicated fan of the women’s Pin Busters Bowling League at Rose Bowl Lanes, he will be greatly missed but never forgotten. If you wish to make a donation in John’s memory, please consider supporting the Hospice of Windsor or the Windsor Essex Cancer Foundation which would be appreciated by the family. There will be visiting hours on Friday from 3-5 p. m., then again from 7-9 p. m., followed by Veteran’s services at 7 p. m., hosted by the Windsor Veterans Memorial Services Committee. The funeral service will take place Saturday at 11:30 a. m., officiated by Rev. Olav Kitchen at Families First Funeral Home & Tribute Centre (519-969-5841), located at 3260 Dougall Ave. Cremation will follow after.
