Halton Regional Police report that a 25-year-old man from Oakville is facing charges after an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage girl and are looking for more potential victims.
According to a news release, the incident reportedly happened in late 2025 when the teenage victim met the accused in Oakville. Investigators state that the victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
Canaan (Cane) Meister was taken into custody on July 19 and is charged with one count of Sexual Assault and one count of Sexual Interference. He is currently held in custody while awaiting a bail hearing in Milton.
Authorities also mentioned that Meister has ties to youth minor hockey programs in Oakville and Burlington, and they have shared his photo as part of their ongoing investigation. Halton police believe there could be other victims out there who are encouraged to come forward. Anyone with information or who thinks they may have been victimized by Meister should reach out to the Halton Regional Police Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit or Crime Stoppers.
