A Catholic priest in Halton has been exonerated from sexual assault charges that were brought against him in March. On July 24, Father Ranjan D’Sa, OCD, who has been the Pastor of St. Dominic Parish in Oakville since 2016 and most recently served as Dean of Halton, had his single charge dropped by the Crown.
In March, Father D’Sa faced one (1) count of sexual assault. In a statement, The Diocese of Hamilton mentioned that it “takes seriously any allegation of misconduct and cooperates with civil authorities in the investigation into allegations of misconduct, recognizing that every individual is entitled to due process.”
The statement went on to say, “Fr. D’Sa has been maintaining his innocence since the beginning of the investigation. He was presumed innocent in the matter, and in fact, he was found innocent by the court July 24, 2026. The case was withdrawn at the request of the Crown Attorney’s Office. Accordingly, Fr. D’Sa has no outstanding criminal charges. We wish to make public the withdrawal of the charge against Fr. D’Sa to assist in restoring his reputation and declare that he is a priest in good standing with the faculties necessary to continue to exercise his priestly ministry, according to the wishes of his Religious Community.”
