The “1st Ever Great Turkey Drop-Off” concluded on Sunday in Waterloo, showcasing incredible community support with 419 turkeys collected for families who need them. This three-day event, organized by FLX Local Media’s Classic Hits 99.3 along with Wilkins RV, Reister’s Appliances, Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, and Music for the Mission, took place in the Walmart parking lot until noon Sunday. Besides the turkeys donated, Catholic Charities also received over $900 in cash contributions and various non-perishable food items worth hundreds of dollars. All these donations will assist programs helping families across Cayuga, Seneca, and Ontario counties. Shoppers were invited to buy frozen turkeys inside Walmart and drop them off at the designated RV and freezer setup. For those who couldn’t attend in person, online purchases were available through the Catholic Charities website. Lisa Cruz from Classic Hits 99.3 broadcast live throughout the weekend and expressed her gratitude to the community by saying she was “overwhelmed by the generosity of listeners, shoppers, sponsors, and everyone who helped make this first-ever event such a success.”
